Thoughtful Citizens

For anyone who has purchased a Bow-Bow Tie at a Children’s Business Fair - help Divisha celebrate the birthday of her organization! 💗
We finally picked a birthday for Bow-Bow Ties — May 6th! Why? Because that’s the day back in 2021 when little Divisha handmade her very first bowtie, and we have the sweetest photo to prove it. ❤️
From that tiny hand sown bowtie to where we are today… what a journey it’s been! And none of it would’ve been possible without you — our incredible community. So we want to celebrate with you.
🐾 From May 1st to May 8th, we would LOVE for you to share a photo of your furry friend wearing a product from Bow-Bow Ties handmade by Divisha, a bow tie, a bandana, a Tabitha Beads, a neck band — whether it’s from the early days or something new.
Post it, share it on your stories, tag us — however you want. We just want to see those adorable faces and those little bowties out in the world. 💛
Because seeing something hand made with love being used and loved is really special.
Let’s fill this week with wagging tails, cute bowties, and all the love that brought Bow-Bow Ties to life.
Can’t wait to see your photos! 🎀🐶💛
This is a heads up, we will share reminders close to the birthday week!
TLDR version: Personal life matters have, very sadly for me, been forced to be prioritized these last few months, but I am still committed to this grassroots group and will be bringing events back this spring!
—————————
I have been heartbroken about my inability to host my normal annual events. It’s been weighing on me and I kept hoping I’d be able to push through some recent personal life curveballs to find time for this spare time passion project of mine. Having to miss the scarf event, seanson’a greetings cards for seniors, the MLK trash pick up today, and realizing I also will not be able to host the Valentine card event…I am finally making a post about it.
In short, I have been busy trying to move (a bit unexpectedly and not without a myriad of unforeseen complexities), my grandmother passed just before thanksgiving and it has been tougher than I anticipated, and I have been postponing two foot surgeries that I found out I needed back in October. With my grandmother’s memorial out of state in February and still moving, I just can’t commit to the Valentines card event.
BUT - don’t worry! I have plans to bring back the May Day cards for senior citizens, host my annual Earth Day trash pickup (and hopefully a few others), and am dreaming of squeezing in a Kindness Card event (because our world is in desperate need of more kindness and positivity these days). And of course the Children’s Business Fair will be back on this summer.
Please know it has been incredibly hard for me to focus on my personal priorities and pause my events, I’m sorry I didn’t share all of this sooner. I know people have reached out inquiring about events and I didn’t mean to ignore you, it is really saddening to even think about to be honest. I hope all of you incredible Thoughtful Citizens will be ready to do our part to make the world a better place with me come spring!
Sincerely,

Some of you may not know the origins of Thoughtful Citizens. Years ago, when my daughter was about 4, I was trying to find community service events that she could participate in…and I came up dry. So I started hosting my own small events with friends. In 2021 I took things to a new level and launched this page, eventually created a website, and now here we are. Along the way, my daughter has been helping prep, run, and organize the events behind the scenes. Tonight at a City Council meeting in Kenmore she was recognized for her contributions to the community. I couldn’t be more proud…and grateful. I am so so grateful to be her mom. Thank you all for supporting us over the years and showing us that there is a desire to join in service and come together as individuals trying to change the world. 💕
