Congratulations to Teresa Gentile Sauro on this incredible honor. The MSCW is deeply honored to announce the full list of the Class of 2026 Commonwealth Heroines and their nominating legislators.

Each year, elected officials are encouraged to submit one woman from their constituency as a means of recognizing their invaluable efforts and extraordinary acts of service, who are making a big difference in their communities but not necessarily making the news. This year, the Class of 2026 Commonwealth Heroines is comprised of a historic 147 women from across the state, the largest class awarded to date by the MCSW. These women are leaders in industry, business, nonprofit, advocacy, and more, and their work truly makes a difference in our local communities all across the state.

Join us in extending our warmest congratulations to the Class of 2026!

Parks and recreation professionals provide access to programs that build community, friendship and education. Youth sports, ice skating rinks, playgrounds, community pools, basketball courts, fitness classes, green space parks, and other activities positively impact so many children and families. Great to discuss the legislative process, importance of parks and rec departments and how to advovate for department needs with my colleagues, Leader Alice Peisch and Rep. Jack Patrick Lewis. Thank you to the parks and rec experts for sharing your insights!

One month into 2026, I wanted to provide an update for funding that I secured for Newton, Waltham and Watertown in 2025. Over half a millions dollars, $610,000 to directly fund projects and support sustainability and climate action, public school money for all three cites (in addition to Chapter 70 allocations), Boys & Girls Clubs, American Legion Nonantum Post 440, district food pantries and more. Grateful to advocate and deliver on real support to meet the needs of our communities at the State House.
