It's ! Heyyyyyyy!
Today, I'm discussing how to apply for your DUNS number. Not sure what that is? Check out my previous posts below.
The process of applying for a DUNS number as a government contractor is a fairly simple one. The first step to applying is visiting the following website - dnb.com.
**Side note: I've found that this process works better when using Internet Explorer versus Google Chrome.**
The picture below is your starting point. Begin by hovering over "D-U-N-S Number" near the top of the page and then clicking the "Get a D-U-N-S Number" from the options shown.
See the comments below for additional steps.

What is a DUNS number?
A DUNS number is a nine-digit unique identifier established for your business. I tell clients to think of it as your business’ social security number. A credit file is created and maintained for your DUNS number, similar to the one created for your social security number. This credit file is maintained by a company called Duns and Bradstreet, a publicly owned company similar to Equifax, Experian, or Transunion – the three main credit bureaus.
Duns & Bradstreet, or D&B, collects your company’s data - things like your business’ creditworthiness, its business-to-business sales, and its risk levels - and is almost always referenced by lenders and potential business partners to evaluate your business’ reliability and/or its financial stability.
In order to contract with Federal government agencies, your company is required to have a DUNS number and I'll show you where to go to get one - AT NO COST.
