Hong Kong International Airport just swept three global honors, reclaiming the “world’s best” crown. Here’s why judges and travelers alike are paying attention.

Global Travel Awards put HKIA back on top while Skytrax handed out best-in-class nods for security processing and even restroom experience, reinforcing its reputation for smooth ground ops.

The airport is investing in biometric gates, CT scanners, and a rebuilt Terminal 2 that plugs into the SKYTOPIA airport city, so the coming wave of flights should feel just as calm as today.

From rugged coastlines and wildlife-packed savannas to vibrant cities and deep-rooted history, South Africa is one of the most diverse and captivating countries on Earth. Whether you’re road-tripping the Garden Route, going on a Big Five safari in Kruger National Park, or exploring the urban energy of Cape Town and Johannesburg, South Africa delivers unforgettable experiences at every turn.

The country has 11 official languages and a blend of African, European, and Asian influences — making it a true cultural mosaic. It’s also where Nelson Mandela helped lead the fight against apartheid, transforming South Africa into a democracy after decades of racial segregation. Sites like Robben Island and Soweto are powerful places to learn this history firsthand.

Backpackers love South Africa for its natural beauty, low cost of travel, and well-established backpacker hostels and routes. You can hike mountains, surf world-class waves, cage dive with sharks, or sip wine in Stellenbosch — all in one trip.

🇺🇸 Death Valley’s Mysterious Moving Stones 🪨🌬️

Deep in California’s Death Valley National Park, a bizarre natural phenomenon has puzzled scientists and travelers for decades: stones that move on their own, leaving long trails behind them in the dried mud of Racetrack Playa. These “sailing stones” can weigh up to 300 kg (660 lbs), yet they appear to slide silently across the desert floor — with no human or animal help.

For years, the movement was a mystery. But in 2014, researchers finally captured the process in action: during rare winter conditions, a thin sheet of ice forms overnight on the playa. As the morning sun warms it, light winds push the ice, which in turn slowly nudges the rocks, creating their eerie, meandering trails.

It’s one of nature’s strangest illusions — so subtle and rare that it wasn’t witnessed in real time until recently. To see it, you’ll need a 4x4 and a sense of adventure, but witnessing the tracks across this cracked, alien landscape is pure travel magic.
