Napping and Snacking - always better with friends
And just watching their contentment breathes a peace into my own system, especially on a dreary day.
Did you know that taking just a moment to enjoy a scene like this, even if you are not personally experiencing it, has a positive effect on mood? So do yourself a favor; listen to the sounds, see the happy herd, take a deep breath, and enjoy the bath of happy neurochemicals.

Subtle Signs of Well-being
Why would we celebrate Sansa’s shavings-laden tail?
Well, as anyone stewarding these magnificent animals would tell you, we are always attuned to signs of of their overall health - mental, emotional and physical.
In the heirarchy of needs, SAFETY - a predictable and stable environment free of threat - is preeminent. A horse won’t eat or drink, let alone lay down, if they don’t feel safe.
The fact that Sansa, our most sensitive in the herd, is finally feeling safe enough to lie down in her cushy shavings bed at night, is happy news indeed! 🥳
Connecticut is starting to feel like home to our precious herd.
Thank you all for the messages inquiring about the move to Connecticut- we made it yesterday afternoon! The horses were understandably stressed by the move and new environment, but knew how to take care of themselves (and each other as you can see Sansa and Holly grooming each other).
This place is Horse Heaven 🌈 and we can’t wait for you to join us!
