The month was started by the U.S. Postal Service back in 2001 when they decided that National Card and Letter Writing Week just wasn't quite enough. Not only is the act of handwriting meditative, but showing love and gratitude has enormous effects on your overall well being. And with mail, those good vibes are viral.
