Check out this article in the Dorchester Reporter highlighting the 2025 and Day (LEAD), hosted by NASW-MA Chapter, where I was honored to be one of the opening speakers.

Hundreds met up at State House for social workers’ Advocacy Day.
On March 31, more than 500 social work students, newer professionals, and advocates convened at the State House for the National Association of Social Workers’ annual Legislative Education and Advocacy Day (LEAD), which Dorchester’s Carla B. Monteiro, a licensed social worker and one of the featured speakers, described as a “dynamic opportunity for social work students and social workers to use their collective power to advocate for state policy changes.”
Her message: “LEAD is an opportunity for social workers to meet the moment.”

A few weeks ago, I attended the 2024 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Lecture at Harvard University honoring Sherrilyn Ifill with my Sorors from the Boston Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
It was an inspiring evening; Sherrilyn Ifill has achieved so much and continues to make a profound impact, inspiring Black women to lead with strength and conviction in the pursuit of justice and equality.
