A little update on Plushy. ❤️
Some of you may remember her.
Plushy was one of the stray dogs from the pack we were feeding and sterilizing during the brutal winter near Tula. Then she suddenly disappeared for several days
When she came back she had a large burn.
Someone had poured acid on her.
Later, during her treatment the veterinarians discovered mammary tumors. She underwent surgery, and the tissue was sent for histology. It was cancer.
Plushy made it through all of it.
Her burn has healed beautifully. Today, it's hard to believe it was ever there. She has recovered from surgery, she feels great, and she is finally able to enjoy being a normal dog.
Plushy is with us, safe.
The only thing she is still missing is a family of her own.
We hope the next chapter will be the one she has always deserved.
A home. ❤️

We have been quiet here for a little while.
Not because nothing was happening. Actually, it was the opposite. Too much was happening, and I just didn’t have words for all of it.
Dick left us. And that stopped me in a way I did not expect.
Even though we knew he was old, even though we knew his body was tired, it still hit hard. He spent 15 years on a chain before we were able to take him. Fifteen years. That number sits in my head like a stone.
But he did not leave this world on a chain. He did not leave it alone. He did not leave it in pain.
He left quietly, at home, after finally knowing what it feels like to sleep on something soft, to be cared for, and to live surrounded by people who made decisions for him, not for themselves.
I am very grateful for that. And I am also very sad. Both things can live in the same heart, I guess.
While we were quiet, Fenya made it to Europe and was adopted. Aspen was not feeling well and needed care. Taffy had to move to a different boarding and had a pre-adoption photoshoot. So did Luma.
Behind the scenes, we were also trying to figure out how to keep feeding our stray packs, continuing sterilizations, and dealing with the kind of problems that don’t make pretty posts. Some of our already-sterilized dogs were taken by animal control, and we spent so much time and nerves trying to get them back, because for them animal control is worse than the street. One more still needs to be pulled out.
And in between all of this, I spent way too many hours fixing our website, because apparently rescue also comes with a side dish of broken pages, buttons, and tiny technical disasters.
So we have been quiet. But we have not stopped.
The dogs are still here. The work is still here. The bills, the messages, the clinic updates, the worries, and the tiny good moments that keep us going.
We’ll start catching up slowly. There is a lot to share.
Thank you for staying with us, even when we go quiet for a little while. ❤️
To everyone who donated to Otto when we found him back in 2024... thank you.
Because of you, Otto is still with us.
After his owner died, Otto was left alone in a world that became terrifying. Whatever happened to him out there changed him forever. He lost his trust in the outside world. He lost his trust in other dogs. He refuses to leave the house and is panicked by the outside.
But somehow, Otto found peace with cats. They became his quiet little family.
Otto is one of seven dogs in our care who are not adoptable. He lives at a paid boarding home where he is safe, loved, and cared for.
It is time for Otto’s annual veterinary checkup and vaccinations.
If you could help, even with a small donation, it would mean so much to Otto and to us. Every dollar helps us keep our promise to dogs like him, the ones who have nowhere else to go. ❤️

He was much smaller when someone put a steel hoop around his neck and welded it shut.
Then he grew, and the steel stayed the same.
We saw him during one of our dog-feeding trips, running around with this thing tightening around his neck and choking him. There was no safe way for us to remove it ourselves, so we called a dog catcher to help.
He had to be sedated so the steel could finally be cut off but when he wakes up, he will be breathing easier.
When we go out to feed dogs, we never know what emergency we will find next.
Please donate to our rescue if you can. Your support helps us act quickly when animals need help right away.
