This weekend I cooked bamboo shoots over an open fire at 's "Woodswoman 101" course.

I also set up a "Bamboo Education Station" and taught four new women how to make a broom from a cane of bamboo and its branches.

Bamboo is out there working hard to provide.

Did you know that bamboo has more protein than most vegetables?

Have you ever eaten a bamboo shoot? That's right. They're edible and DELICIOUS!

I will show you which parts of the shoot are edible at the upcoming "Arts in the Garden" event on Saturday, May 14th at .woodlandpreserve
