Stopped by what used to be Rite Aid’s flagship store in Scranton—there’s even a plaque marking the chain’s humble beginnings here back in 1962. It may not be the actual original spot, but it’s got all the hometown pharmacy nostalgia. Now? The storefront’s just “prime space for rent.” From flagship launch to vacant lease—guess that’s retail history for you.

Plaque reads:
This plaque commemorates the opening of the first Rite Aid Corporation drugstore on September 12, 1962 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Alexander Grass, founder of the Company which now has grown to over 1,300 drug stores, is a native of Scranton.
