Most healthcare leaders' LinkedIn profiles read like they were last touched the day they got their current job.

Which would be fine — if no one ever looked at them.

Recruiters look. Boards look. The candidates you're trying to hire look. (Yes, they're checking out their next boss before applying.)

Three quick fixes if it's been a while: a headline that says what you do, not just your title. An About section written like a person, not a press release. A photo that's not from a 2017 conference.

It takes thirty minutes. Most leaders just never make the thirty minutes.

In healthcare hiring, speed sends a message whether we mean it to or not.

Not rushed.
Not sloppy.
Just clear and moving.

When response times stretch, interviews take too long to schedule, or decisions sit in limbo, candidates fill in the blanks. Usually not in our favor.

That doesn’t mean leaders are careless. It usually means they’re overloaded.

But the market doesn’t pause because a team is busy.

A lot of recruiting friction has less to do with talent shortage than with avoidable delay inside the process.

That’s the frustrating part.
And the fix is often more operational than dramatic.

One of the quietest workforce levers in a hospital is manager consistency.

Not charisma.
Not speeches.
Not “culture” on a poster.

Just consistency.

Clear expectations. Predictable follow-through. Fewer surprises.
Teams notice it. Candidates feel it. New hires decide pretty quickly whether it’s real.

Over time, that kind of consistency does more than improve morale. It helps retention, steadies onboarding, and makes recruiting easier because people can tell when a unit is well-led.

A lot of workforce instability starts upstream from the vacancy.

That’s not a criticism. It’s just worth noticing.
