🚨 Stop Tagging Your Team! (Major Google Update)
Google just dropped a massive update to their review guidelines, and it’s going to change how a lot of you handle your Google Business Profile.
The New Rule: You can no longer ask customers to mention specific employees by name in their reviews.
“Merchants requesting that staff solicit reviews that include specific content, including content that identifies a staff member.”
If you’ve been running internal competitions or offering bonuses to staff members who get "name-dropped" in 5-star reviews, you need to stop immediately. Continuing this strategy could put your profile and your hard-earned reviews at risk of being flagged or removed.
What should you do instead?
Shift the focus from the individual to the collective! Instead of rewarding a single person, try:
Celebrating the team when you hit a specific review milestone (e.g., every 50 new reviews).
Rewarding the whole office for maintaining a 4.8+ star average.
Don't let a simple mistake hurt your SEO and online reputation. Stay compliant and stay visible!
