A student-built biomedical innovation powered by linear motion. βš™οΈ
Four engineering students from University of Waterloo used Progressive Automations technology to bring LARS β€” Load Assistance for Reduced-Strain Sonography β€” to life.

LARS is a semi-robotic articulated arm designed to reduce the physical strain sonographers experience while operating ultrasound probes, while keeping full user control.

🩺 Using the PA-01-2-16-HS-12VDC Feedback IP65 Mini Linear Actuator, the team created responsive force assistance for a more ergonomic ultrasound experience.

πŸ† Recognitions include:
Norman Esch Entrepreneurship Award β€” 2026
Biomedical Engineering Capstone Best Prototype β€” 2026
Baylis Medical Capstone Design Award β€” 2025

This project is a strong example of how linear motion technology can support real innovation in healthcare.
