The venom myth likely spread because they look delicate and harmless — and humans tend to assume that whatever seems too fragile to fight back must be secretly deadly. But the biology tells a different story. Zero venom glands. Zero fangs capable of breaking skin. No delivery system. No toxin. The creature that generations of people warned each other about cannot produce a single drop of anything harmful.
