I found new Abandoned Ancestors pictures today. Sketched one in a vintage journal acquired at the same estate sale. Thanks Harmony Hut for more fantastic finds.

In 2019, I entered my very first art competition.

I remember how terrified I was to put my artwork out into the world. Sharing something so personal felt like standing in front of a crowd with my heart in my hands.

Fast forward to 2026, and I'm still on this wonderful artistic journey and every step has been worth taking.

Looking back, I'm grateful I found the courage to begin. Looking ahead, I'm excited to see where this creative path leads next.

Thank you to everyone who has encouraged, and believed in me along the way.

Each jar in this drawing represents something I love about Big Spring and the stories that have helped me appreciate this community even more.

Some represent familiar landmarks. Some represent people whose stories have nearly been forgotten. Others are tied to the research trails that have led me through old newspapers, district court records, and local history.

And yes, there really was a Grounsky’s Store. It served as both a store and post office, and I first came across it while researching a murder case.

The more I learn about Big Spring’s past, the more respect I have for the people who built this town and the stories they left behind.
