Weekend Recap for 2026 - It's a long one!

The good

We qualified P4 on Friday. On Saturday, started the race from 4th on the grid followed by Ioan and benymabernethy. We had good pace and were in a fight for P2. Benym put the fastest lap in our car that helped us start the race in 2nd position on Sunday with very close times set by Florin. A mega effort from our drivers Florin, and Benym put us in a good spot for a P2 contention for both Saturday and Sunday. Huge congrats to Benym on his endurance weekend at the young age of 14 and setting the fastest lap times in the car which was closely followed by Florin.

The Bad

Even though we had good pace, transmission issues on Saturday took us out of podium contention. The team worked really hard to put the car back on track and we finished 6th.

And the Ugly

After struggling with issues on Saturday, the crew put their best effort and put out a well prepared car for Sunday. Unfortunately, with about 2 hours to go we had a big accident and could not continue. Fortunately, the driver Florin was able to come out of the car under his own power, he was cleared by the medical at Road America and has been doing well since then. We cannot thank the safety team at Road America enough to take care of our driver and help us load our very broken car back in the trailer. Special thanks to John Oldt for his support over the weekend.

We are looking at data and video but as of now it looks like the accident was the result of a suspension component that failed. More to come.

It was a tough weekend for the team but the support from drivers - Florin, Ioan and Benym was incredible and the crew - , and gave it their best while worked remotely to support the team. We are down but we are not out. We will be back stronger! Hope to see you all at the track soon!

What a way to kick off the season 🔥

HC Autosport opened the year at the incredible with , and we’re proud to bring home P2 🥈 and P4 in the ultra-competitive GP2 class!

This weekend marked a huge milestone for our team — our first podium in the GP2 class after several podiums in GP3. The level of competition in this class is no joke, which makes this result even more meaningful.

Massive thank you to our drivers , Monacelli and Rosenberg— your consistency, focus, and trust in the program made this result possible. And to our dedicated crew - .56 , and for the long hours, flawless prep, and relentless effort all weekend.

Our drivers— Florin Sabau, Chazz Logue, and Ioan Lazarciuc—did a stellar job while the crew— , and —executed flawless pit stops and handled overnight service with precision.

With only one entry in GP3, the team elected to compete in the much bigger GP2 field. We finished 7th out of 15 cars, gained valuable insight into the class, and came away better prepared for the future. We’re already looking ahead and eager to return stronger in GP2 for the 2026 season.
