Mormos - Live in Belgium ’72, by Mormos 13 track album

If you listened to, or purchased “Live at St. Jerome featuring Ellen Hoffman”, then you may (or may not) know that both Ellen and Ernie met at the School of Music at Urbana-Champaign (Univ. of Illinois). At the same time they were there, there were a number of talented musicians who went on to great music careers, including Dan Fogelberg, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Jim McNeely. Among those was Jim Cuomo, a talented composer/musician who became music director of LaMama Theater in New York, and later went on to Paris, where he received a record contract with CBS, and thus Mormos was born - but in Paris! Jim came back to the Urbana-Champaign campus, and recruited Annie Hat, Elliott Delman, and Ernie to join him in Paris, recording and performing their own version of “progressive folk”, also know as “psychedelic folk”. That is the background of how Mormos was born. Coming from the highly creative music atmosphere at Univ. of Illinois, the music that Mormos created was part jazz, part folk, and a lot of interesting music. I hope some of you may be intrigued enough to take a listen to the latest production.
