We completed 160 general surgical procedures at Kabudula in 2021 through local surgical camps, in partnership with AHA. General procedures were not being done at the community hospital until AHA began international surgical camps there with support from WAM in 2014. The training element of the camps led to Kab clinicians learning how to perform the procedures on their own. Please continue to support local surgical camps throughout the year as our goal is to complete 500 surgeries at Kab in 2022!!!

This young man was finally able to return to school without facing peer ridicule after having his forehead mass removed through our local surgical outreach program at Kabudula. This program provides surgical services for patients in rural areas who would not be able to access treatment otherwise, while training local clinicians to improve the capacity of the community hospital at Kabudula.

The team at Kabudula looks forward to another surgical outreach visit coming up this month, as there are always patients still waiting for our help in this large rural catchment area.
