There's a difference between learning cybersecurity from a book and learning it from someone who's spent decades doing the work.
This month, we welcomed Alex Alexandrov to the A4E office. Alex is a cybersecurity instructor and an engineer at Microsoft. He sat down with our team to talk through the field. What cybersecurity looks like day to day. How the industry is changing. What a long career inside it has taught him.
That's what makes an instructor like Alex valuable. Our interns and staff aren't working from theory alone. They're learning from someone who's lived the shifts in this field and can tell them what actually matters and what's coming next.
Thank you, Alex, for bringing your experience to the people building toward this work.

Looking to break into a new field — or finally build the skills for the job you actually want?
The Career Skills Accelerator was made for exactly that. It's training for the fields employers are hiring for right now: AI, cybersecurity, cloud computing, project management, digital marketing, and HR & org design.
Here's what's inside: 20+ courses we built in-house, plus access to 16,000 more online. All of it hands-on and employer-aligned — the kind of learning you can put to work. And it's 100% tuition-free, open to all. No cost, no catch.
Whether you're just starting out or starting over, this is a place to build real skills at your own pace.
Talent is everywhere. Opportunity is not. This is one way we work to close that gap.

The tech hiring process is changing — and AI is a big part of why.
This month, we welcomed Steve Balo, Technical Employment Program Manager at North Seattle College, to the A4E office. He sat down with our interns to explain how AI is reshaping the way tech hires: what managers screen for, how they evaluate candidates, and what makes someone stand out now that the tools have shifted.
His advice was practical. Don't treat AI as one more thing to chase on its own. Learn it, and then combine it with the know-how you already have. As the hiring process changes, that mix — your existing experience plus fluency with the tools reshaping the work — is what keeps you current. For people early in their careers, it's a clear, doable place to put their energy.
Thank you, Steve, for spending your time with our team and pouring it into the next group coming up.

The numbers tell the story: this program is already working.
Right now, our Workforce Development & Internship Program has 40+ interns in live roles, 15+ employer partners hiring from our pool, and 146 people on the waitlist for the next cohort. There are six tracks to choose from — AI, AI data analytics, digital marketing, project management, HR & org design, and system admin & tech ops.
And these aren't make-work roles. 60% of interns move into paid work, finishing with real experience and a real next step. The whole thing is 100% tuition-free — no cost, ever.
Demand is outpacing the seats. If you've been thinking about it, this is the moment to get your name in.
Talent is everywhere. Opportunity is not. This is what it looks like when that gap starts to close.

What's the difference between a certificate and a career? Proof.
Our Workforce Development & Internship Program is built to give people exactly that. Interns join a real team and own real projects — not busywork, not shadowing — across six tracks: HR & org design, digital marketing, AI data analytics, project management, AI development, and system admin & tech ops.
By the end, they've got something real to show for it: a portfolio of shipped work, a professional reference, and certification with mentorship the whole way through.
That's the bridge between training and a real career.
And it's 100% tuition-free, open to all — a 501(c)(3) nonprofit program built for the community.
Talent is everywhere. Opportunity is not. This is one of the ways we work to close that gap.

Congratulations to Melvin P.
Melvin joined our inaugural Warp 10 program as a student, earned an internship, and quickly became one of the most valued contributors we've had. He spearheaded A4E's first annual report, led our AI chatbot integration, and supported the HSFC grant submission. Today, he's a Senior Budget Manager at Slate Group Consulting in Redmond, WA.
What makes Melvin's story land: he already had a finance career behind him Microsoft, Amazon, Starbucks and still found room to grow and give back here. The training was tuition-free. Melvin brought everything else.
Congratulations, Melvin earned, start to finish.

Congratulations to Juan I.
Juan is an AI Data Analyst Intern at A4E, where he turns complex data into real program decisions and leads our grant research and writing. While he's been interning with us, he also stepped up into a Team Performance Manager role at Credit Corp Solutions.
Here's what stands out in Juan's story: he never had to choose between building skills and building a career. The internship fit around the work he was already doing and he's leading on both fronts at once.
That's the idea. Real experience that works with your life, not against it. Juan brought the drive; the training was tuition-free.
Congratulations, Juan earned, start to finish.

Congratulations to Dedrick H.
Dedrick came to A4E as a student in our MLK Gandhi Empowerment Initiative. Today, he's a Junior System Administrator Intern building a foundation in cybersecurity, IT networking, and security systems, and working toward his CompTIA A+.
But ask anyone here and they'll point to a different kind of growth. Professionalism. Public speaking. Confidence. Dedrick has found his voice, and he's used it strengthening the communication skills that sit right alongside the technical ones, day after day.
He pairs the discipline of security work and martial arts with technical and communication skills to build a stronger future, and to help the people around him do the same. Outside A4E, he coaches with the West Coast Fight Team and has his sights set on going pro.
Congratulations, Dedrick strength and skill, on every front.

Congratulations to Matthew.
Matthew was brought on early as an intern and grew fast. He became Director of Systems and Programs, running the platforms and daily operations behind our training and mentoring the interns who came after him. He managed core systems like Microsoft 365, Salesforce, and Monday.com, and built the workflows and reporting that helped the programs deliver more.
Here's the full-circle part: this July, Matthew returns to Emerald City Construction; where he once worked as an Office Administrator in a stepped-up role as Program Coordinator. He left, grew with us, and goes back leveled up.
The training was tuition-free. Matthew built the rest.
Congratulations, Matthew earned, start to finish.
