The Ties Program

This past weekend, The Ties Program had the honor of attending the 2nd Annual Conference in Philadelphia, centered around the theme of “Family: First, Found & Future.” 💜
Our Program Manager, Autumn Ackerson, represented Ties throughout the weekend and co-led breakout sessions on the logistics of going back to China and searching, as well as a session on adoptee identity beyond search & return.
It was so meaningful to not only meet and connect with so many adoptees throughout the weekend, but also reconnect with several Ties alumni along the way. 🤍
We’re grateful for spaces like these that allow adoptees t build community together. Thank you to everyone who helped bring this weekend to life and for continuing to create opportunities where adoptees can feel seen, heard, and understood.

We honestly could not have imagined this kind of response 💛 Our Dual Citizenship Webinar for Guatemalan adoptees filled so quickly that we’ve decided to host another session in partnership with Adoptees With Guatemalan Roots (). We are incredibly grateful for the excitement, interest, and support surrounding this space and these conversations. Join us next month for the next one.

To everyone who signed up for the last session, joined the waitlist, shared the event, or simply expressed interest, thank you. It’s clear how important these conversations around identity, citizenship, connection, and access are within the Guatemalan adoptee community.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to our Community & Connection: Boston Meetup this weekend! ❤️
It was so meaningful to gather with fellow Guatemalan adoptees and their loved ones for an afternoon filled with conversation, connection, laughter, shuffleboard, and community. Events like these remind us how important it is to have spaces where adoptees can simply show up as themselves and be together.
Thank you to everyone who attended, shared stories, hung out, and helped create such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We’re also incredibly grateful to our co-hosts at Adoptees With Guatemalan Roots () and to the Boston Post Adoption Resources () for sponsoring and supporting this gathering.
We loved spending the afternoon with you all and can’t wait for the next one 🤍
