The 4th annual Elijah E. Cummings Democracy and Freedom Festival was a success! A full day of panels, interactive activities, workshops, a people’s dinner and a debate focused on strategies for strengthening civic education and engagement in the U.S. Highlights included a talk by Birds Aren’t Real founder , workshops on OpEd writing and promoting civic education in schools, remarks by Sarah Godlewski, the Wisconsin Secretary of State, and a stimulating debate on the merits/demerits of social media in our democracy moderated by White House Correspondent April D. Ryan. Thanks to the for hosting the event at their venue and congrats to the The Johns Hopkins University SNF Agora Institute, led by Hahrie Han, for pulling together this wonderfully educational and engaging event.
