We made a video about this tree right at a year ago and it’s time for an update.

While this tree may not win any beauty awards it’s clear that the treatment for Emerald Ash Borer was successful. (Not like we expected it not to work considering we treat hundreds of them per year). It could definitely use some pruning of dead wood, but it’s still here and shows some improvement despite the brutal drought we had in 2025.

It will be fun to track the progress moving forward of this tree and the others on the same site since none of them were treated previously. The next round of treatment is on schedule for May/June of 2027

As a family-owned and operated business, this tree holds a treasured spot in our hearts, having grown from a seed produced by a majestic northern catalpa planted by our great uncle on our family farm in 1926.

Vanessa Kaighin-Rawson carefully harvested the seed, nurtured it through stratification, and lovingly grew it to about 5' tall before we had the privilege of installing it in the front yard of a long-time client's home. Standing approximately 15’ tall and 7” in diameter it’s on its way to becoming a statement in the neighborhood.
