It’s always an honor to be invited to speak with the 5th-grade students at Colégio Visconde de Porto Seguro in Brazil—a distinguished German school currently studying Astronomy. Each year, I’m asked to share insights about NASA and my adventure as an Aerospace Engineer.
This marks my fourth year participating, and the experience is always incredibly rewarding. The educators have become like family, and the students continually impress me with their intelligence and curiosity. Trilingual in Portuguese, German, and English, they never fail to engage deeply—though I’m often reminded to slow down a bit, as English is their third language and they’re only in the 5th grade.
I always make time to talk about my friend, Captain Nia Gilliam, and highlight the inspiring work of Sisters of the Skies.
One of the highlights each year is receiving heartfelt artwork from the students—thoughtful, creative drawings that I treasure.
I truly ❤️ this.
