Factory Farming increases cancer risk:

I wish this was fake, but Lake Tahoe is under attack by mass sprays of glyphosate and data centers.
For years residents have said “Keep Tahoe Blue” but that is coming under true jeopardy due to two simultaneous crises…
1. The U.S. Forest Service has approved the application of glyphosate across up to 75,000 acres in the Lake Tahoe Basin
- Glyphosate is the primary ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup classified as a probable human carcinogen, according to the World Health Organization
- Glyphosate disrupts soil and water quality
2. 49,000 Lake Tahoe-area residents face the prospect of losing 75% of their electricity supply by May 2027
- Google, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta have either built or are planning facilities around the Tahoe-Reno area
- Explosive industrial demand means Liberty Utilities, the energy company had to choose between Tahoe residents and Big Tech (they chose the latter)
These crises arrive at a lake that has been under environmental stress for decades.
Glyphosate and data centers amplify compounding threats on invasive species, climate change, and runoff risk into water supplies and farmland.
If we can’t protect the nature and food production in our immediate areas, we will cease to exist.
We are destroying the natural World for a fake one.
Limiting chemicals in the food supply and preventing data center takeovers of farmland is how we preserve the future.

Why Founder Bill Niman Went On The Record Telling People Not To Eat Meat With His Name On It:
1970: Bill Niman founds Niman Ranch in Bolinas CA as the original “no antibiotics, no hormones, family-farm-raised,” pork, beef, and lamb cooperative
2007: Niman Ranch sold to Natural Food Holdings (private equity) who push Bill Niman out as CEO and contractually barred him from using “Niman” commercially
2015: The PE Firm (Niman Ranch) is bought out by Perdue Farms, the same chicken producer that was the subject of contract-grower animal-cruelty videos released by Compassion in World Farming
2015-2017: Bill Niman tells the SF Chronicle and Sonoma Magazine he no longer eats meat with his name on it: “the standards have dropped significantly.”
Present day: After various restructurings, requirements around third-party certification and the prohibition of confined feeding have been loosened.

Imagine how much propaganda it took to convince us we should be spraying chemicals to keep a clean lawn instead of using it for something useful.
All grass yards could be anything from
- fruit trees
- vegetable gardens
- bee hives
- chicken coops
But instead Americans would rather flaunt a lawn as status to their neighbors.
And the worst part about this:
To keep it clean? Pesticides that harm health
To keep it mowed? Destruction to bugs and soil
Out of all that you get a piece of land with an all grass yard that can’t actually be used for anything productive.
Some neighborhoods even regulate this through local Governments called HOAs, suppressing Americans rights to sovereignty with their food.
If you do have the freedom, this is your sign to convert your lawn to a food growing space.
And while it may not be possible to grow and raise a significant portion of your weekly groceries, it is good for us all to start somewhere.
The rest can be filled in by local farmers that you can find on Localize.
Shorter the supply chain, the better.
