Two innovation tracks are reshaping high-power therapy at once, and they're more connected than they look.

The extravascular EV-ICD provides patients with protection during defibrillation therapy while delivering anti-tachycardia pacing (ATP) when needed, all within a system that keeps the lead entirely out of the vasculature.

On the transvenous side, the newly launched OmniaSecure™ defibrillation lead became the first and only defibrillation lead approved by the FDA for placement in the left bundle branch area, which allows for conduction system pacing.

The real clinical question isn't whether one option is better than the other. Rather, it’s about which patients are best served by – and are candidates for – a system with a lead that never enters the vasculature and those who can benefit from a small-diameter lead that allows for physiologic pacing when paired with a traditional transvenous defibrillation system.
