Hi, y’all! It’s Lianna again (Villa Atelier | Lianna), the Changarrito Resident Artist for the month of June! I wanted to share a never-before-seen tour of my home studio/atelier 🐞⭐️

I love seeing other artists’ spaces, so here’s a peek into mine! It’s my most favorite part of my home, and my sacred space. I’m so grateful to have a designated space to create, surrounded by my plantas that I marvel at all day. I love getting up every morning, walking into this room, turning on the plant lights, and sitting at my desk🫀and there’s Teddy, my 12 y/o dog and self-appointed studio manager. I hope y’all enjoyed these corners of my atelier 🫶🏼🌱

"Hola Mexic-Arte familia! I’m Lianna Villarreal, the jewelry artist behind Villa Atelier and the Changarrito Artist in Residency for the month of June! 🫀
As part of the residency, I’ll be sharing glimpses of pieces in progress, some of my favorite pieces, and a tour of my studio!
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in December 2024 with a Bachelor of Science and Arts in Biology. Now, I’m pursuing formal jewelry training at to deepen my artistic practice with an Associate of Applied Science in Jewelry. Then, it's time to head to medical school! I’m currently in the middle of applications, and jewelry has been such a grounding outlet through it all. I’m passionate about pursuing a career in medicine that serves the most at-risk members of our communities, including people navigating substance use disorders and those who are unhoused.
The perceived dichotomy of art and science has always intrigued me. By transforming scientific concepts into wearable art, I aim to reveal how artificial this division is. I believe that medicine is a realm where science and art intertwine. The art of jewelry making and the practice of medicine are both acts of creation, and the parallels between the two emphasize the artistry and humanity inherent in both practices.
