The Day My Dad Died 07/02/2025

I recorded a podcast episode I never imagined I’d have to.

On May 22, 2025, I watched my dad take his final breath.

It changed me.

The overthinking, the worrying, the striving to say the “right” thing?
Gone.
Grief stripped it all away.

In this episode, I talk about what it’s like to witness death, and what no one tells you about how it reshapes who you are.

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Shanti Kumar, age 76, of Long Island, New York.

He passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, surrounded by his loved ones after several years of living with progressive supranuclear palsy.

Shanti lived a life guided by dharma (duty), seva (service), and deep devotion to his family and community. He was known for his sharp intellect, quiet humility, and steadfast integrity.

He was born on October 31, 1948 in Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu, India and grew up in a joint family in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. He graduated from Osmania University as a Chartered Accountant and emigrated to the United States in his late 20s. He was a Certified Public Accountant by profession.

He was the beloved husband of Geetha Kumar, devoted appa to Pallavi and Vasavi, and a proud thatha (grandfather) to Chethan and Ananya, who brought light to his final years. He also leaves behind his loving siblings, who remained close to his heart throughout his life.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Geetha Kumar, his daughters Pallavi Kumar (Colin Quinn) and Vasavi Kumar, his beloved grandchildren Ananya Quinn and Chethan Quinn. He is also survived by his brother LSP Anand Kumar, sisters Kalyani (late PRS), Bhanu (late Srinivasan), Gowri (KP Venkatramanan), and Seethamma (Viswanathan), brother-in-law Dr. Guruswamy Ramamurthy (Madhu Guruswamy, sisters-in-law Usha Venkatraman (TS Venkatraman), Viji Somanath (AL Somanath), and Rama Viswanathan (Viswanathan), eighteen nephews, ten nieces, and many great-nephews and great-nieces.

Shanti delighted in life’s simple joys: sharing a good meal, supporting causes close to his heart in India, and speaking with kindness to everyone he met. He was an avid tennis player into his sixties, and his passion for the sport was matched only by his generosity and love for his community.

A man of deep faith, Shanti honored Advaita Vedanta Hindu traditions throughout his life. His transition will be marked by sacred Hindu rites, as his soul is lovingly guided toward peace and liberation. May his atma (soul) find shanti (peace), and may his memory live on through the countless lives he touched with his love, presence, and quiet strength.

He is preceded in death by his parents LSP Nagarajan and Sivakamu Nagarajan, uncle LSP Natarajan and aunt Mahalakshmi Natarajan, and his beloved brothers LSP Uma Shankar, LSP Gowri Shankar, and LSP Lakshmi Kumar.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 10am at Laurel Hill Funeral Home in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania.

Service will be held at 11am. Cremation will be at 12pm.

All who knew him are welcome to join in honoring his life and legacy.

Memorial donations may be made to CurePSP(https://www.psp.org/).

Naked Out Loud Mirror Work Prompts 12/15/2024

If you've ever wanted to increase your confidence, communicate more clearly, or feel more comfortable on camera, let me share a secret with you:

It starts with how you see yourself.

When you look in the mirror, what do you see?

Do you notice all the things you want to change, or do you truly connect with the person staring back at you?

For years, I avoided the mirror because I didn't like what I saw. But once I started practicing mirror work—intentionally speaking to myself with love, honesty, and encouragement—everything changed.

✨ My confidence grew.
✨ I stopped overthinking and second-guessing myself.
✨ I showed up more boldly—on camera, in conversations, and in life.

This daily practice is powerful, and I want to help you experience it too.

That's why I created 365 Days of Naked Out Loud Mirror Work Prompts—a free resource to guide you through a year of transformative self-talk and reflection.

Here's how these prompts will help you:

These prompts are designed to be simple yet powerful. All you need is a mirror, a few minutes a day, and the willingness to show up for yourself.
