Have a child with special needs? Interested in having them join a sports league?

Now enrolling for the Champs League at West Austin Youth Association! Champs League is a multi-sport league for children with special needs--including language, learning, attention, or physical--that may present a challenge in participating in mainstream sports leagues. Champs League is a program focused on bringing kids of different abilities and special needs together through the avenue of team building activities and sports. Each player will be paired with a Buddy or Buddies who will assist the player in the different activities.

Champs League

LOOKING: 9 to 13-month-old infants who have a sibling with OR without Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Infants and their mothers are needed for a longitudinal study examining how social development unfolds over time and how this development differs for those infants with versus without an older sibling with ASD.

Infants will participate in developmental assessments and play-based interactions with our researchers during four visits over their second year of life (1.5-2 hours each). Mothers will also be asked to complete several questionnaires, and older siblings with autism will participant in a one-hour standardized diagnostic assessment for autism.

$20-$30 compensation per visit, free parking, and written feedback from the older sibling’s assessment will be provided (if applicable). In addition, infants will be closely monitored for signs of autism, and parents will be notified of clinical concerns related to autism and referred for appropriate services in the community.
