After a lot of thought, my partner and I have decided to move to Colorado, which means Peace Cheese’s Austin chapter is coming to a close, at least for now.

What started as a small pandemic experiment grew into something bigger and more meaningful than I ever could have imagined! Over the years, Peace Cheese has served thousands of people through markets, collaborations and community events. As a visibly transgender person building this business in Texas, there have also been new challenges that shaped this journey. Peace Cheese has never been only a business to me, but also a reflection of my own journey as a trans person living in Texas. This decision to leave is tied to wanting more safety and stability for myself and my partner, and out of hope for the kind of life we want to build next.

The love this community has shown me has genuinely changed my life. Knowing that Peace Cheese has had a positive impact on both the vegan community and other trans people who saw themselves reflected in this project means more to me than I can fully express. But after a lot of reflection, I know it’s time for a new chapter and a safer quality of life.

I’m hoping to reopen Peace Cheese in Denver soon, but I don’t have a timeline quite yet. Right now, I’m focused on making this transition intentionally and giving myself space to settle into whatever comes next. If you have any ideas, I’d love to hear them in the comments!

To everyone who stopped by the booth, brought friends, shared my work, collaborated with me, trusted me, or supported this little dream in any way…. THANK YOU, thank you, thank you, with all my heart! You helped me build something beautiful here, my life’s work, and I’m forever grateful.

I have four markets left in Austin, every Sunday of June from 10-2 at Mueller Farmers Market. I’d love to see some familiar faces before this chapter closes.

You can continue to keep up with this new chapter through this page! I also have an email list and will be sending more personal updates through there- sign up through my link in bio.

Austin (and you) will always be part of Peace Cheese’s story. I’m forever grateful.

Keep it Cheesy Cheesers,
Sexton
