Lucky Fish Designs

This American Chesnut mantle was salvaged from my clients grandfathers home in upstate New York back around the turn of the century. I had the pleasure of restoring it and the privilege to work with this nearly extinct species almost 200 years since it was cut down!

American chestnut was victim of a blight in the early 1900s that wipes out million and millions of these trees. To my knowledge, only one stand remains in an undisclosed location in the Minnesota north woods.

It’s so fun to get the chance to take on more interesting work as our name gets out around town a bit more.
