Today I’m hosting a workshop for 23 women in the healthcare field about communication styles, women supporting women in the workplace and how to unhook from praise and criticism.
I’m nervous and excited.
This content is what lights me up 💫
However, I’ve never spoken the women supporting women content in a large group setting. This content is always spoken about with my one-on-one female leaders.
❓So what can I do when I am stretching outside my comfort zone, where my inner critic is saying I’m not good enough, prepared enough, smart enough, confident enough….you, know all the stuff we all hear over and over again in our thoughts.
I lovingly reassure my critic that I got this, I’ve prepared for this and she doesn’t have to worry or stress. I imagine hugging her, calming her down, and then tell her to go take a break and have fun.
🔨This is a tool I teach my clients and here I am using it!

It’s a real skill to know how to pause in the middle of chaos, slow down, breathe, let your body settle while calming your nervous system, slowly getting back to your center, allowing yourself to once again anchor to what’s most important to you: your values, and THEN decide your next move or your next thought or your next sentence or your next email, or how you will show up to the next thing.
This is what leads to powerful yet humble and compassionate and servant-led leadership.
