Most people are surprised to learn that both Valais Blacknose ewes and rams have horns.

While both have spiral-shaped horns, ram’s horns tend to be thicker and spiral downward, while ewe’s horns spiral straight out.

I actually really like having horned sheep - they come in handy when you need to hold a sheep (hooves, deworming, etc) and they can be another tool to help tell who is who!

In the pics: Lacey and Nadira are both ewes, Nadira’s horns are obviously shorter as she is still young. Leonard’s horns are absolutely fabulous!
