Previously, Aleja was the Private Assistant to the Former Vice President of Colombia in charge of social campaigns, media strategies and public relations. She is Spanish-English bilingual and has been with Village Exchange Center since its inception in 2017. From her role she has served the community of Aurora as the Outreach Specialist and Manager of the Food Pantry that serves more than 1,500 families from 35 different countries.
She also was part of the Census Committee, active participant on the Refugees and Immigrants Commission of the City of Aurora, is part of the New American Neighbors team, Natural Helper for the City of Aurora, Community Navigator for the CDPHE, part of the Text2LiveHealthy Program from the Rocky Mountain Prevention Research Center of the University of Colorado Anschutz to understand and research how better serve the refugee community.
Aleja also co-presents news In Hablemos Hoy con Rodolfo Jose Cardenas 1150am and has her own radio program Cafe Contigo, a weekly show interviewing key people and causes for the local community.
