Hello Gentle Souls — whether you’ve just arrived or you’ve been here from the beginning, I’m grateful for you tonight. Music has always been the way I breathe, and the sounds that shape Zen’i’s world are the ones that carry truth: the spirit of Iniko, the warmth of Kem, the soul of Erykah Badu and Jill Scott, the edge of Ama Lou and Greentea Peng, even the haunting honesty of Evanescence. And a newly added favorite, Carpetman with haunting introspection and his brother Black Soil. If any of these artists live in your world too, then you’re already part of mine. Thank you for being here, for listening, for holding space. A new drop is on the horizon and more — and I can’t wait to share what’s blooming next.

A few of you have asked about the cadence of the song’s I sing and my voice, so here is a little insight. I am a natural alto with a naturally rising register. In Song of Zen’i, you will hear the depth of that alto, the rise, and the vocal dance across the full range of my voice. This song gave my lower register a home, and I hope you feel that resonance as you listen.
