You won't expect to find the world’s largest permanent exhibition space for Western art in a small Georgia town, but here we are.
The Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville is a 120,000 square foot Smithsonian affiliate and the second largest art museum in Georgia.
Inside you’ll find contemporary Western artwork, a Presidential Gallery, Civil War art, more than 200 Native American artifacts , authentic stagecoaches, and rotating exhibits that change throughout the year.
The building itself is worth noting as it's designed to resemble a modern pueblo and constructed from Bulgarian limestone.
This museum is one of those places where you'll think you know what you’re walking into and then you spend three hours in there realizing you still need more time.
If you’re in North Georgia or passing through on I-75, this is worth the stop.
Have you been? Or is this going on your Georgia bucket list?

🇺🇸 I’m spending America's 250th the way I know best - visiting and sharing the historic sites that tell real, fascinating stories.
I'll be sharing historic old houses, Civil War & Cherokee sites (mostly GA and Southeast) and some of the places that people drive right past without knowing what they’re missing.
I've shared a few already with more coming all summer long.
