How to handle a super unaligned hood to ceiling venting

We are doing a kitchen remodel and removed the cabinet microwave/vent to replace with a vented range hood.
Now that we are deep in the process we’ve learned you can’t use semi-rigid ducting for these and we are absolutely stuck. The angle and distance from the ceiling is super awkward so most of the elbows aren’t angled enough to accommodate. How do you run rigid ductwork in such a small space

Heat Only Thermostat Wires Look the Same

Like title says, I am hooking up a thermostat that only requires the W and R connectors but the wires look the same. I am getting conflicting information about whether it matters if they are swapped or not. I know the easiest thing would have been to label before disconnecting but hindsight is 20/20. I think I know which is which but I’m not 100%
I watched a video about determining wires by continuity with a multimeter but not sure how you accomplish that with only two wires.

What should I do?

Does anyone know what could have caused this the line is frozen? No techs have been able to figure out what’s wrong. I have a 2.5 yr new build and have been having this problem with my AC the past 1.5 yrs. I will add details.

My air will randomly stop. I have it set on 70 but it reads 73 or higher. I have an upstairs and downstairs thermostat but only one unit. They both do the same thing. When a tech came out the 1st time he said my unit locked and they was a small amount of water in the pan. He unlocked it and it worked fine for over a month than happened again. The 2nd time it started working again before the tech got there but he also said that he couldn’t find the reason why either. Both times the test came out with nothing wrong. This is so frustrating because I have a new build and this unit was brand new since Dec 2022. Recently everything seems to be working the fan in the unit is working, but the temperature is still not adjusting. Now there’s a part that keeps freezing you can see in the picture. Has anyone else had this happen or are there any technicians who know why this occurs??

They cleaned it today and I took the pics immediately after the guy left. They invoice the bill so I haven’t paid yet.

This would be my first time complaining about a worker’s workmanship at my house and I want to make sure I have reasonable expectations in regards to an AC cleaning.

In general how would you recommend I go about asking for them to come back and do a better job without sounding rude?
