RedLotus The Poetess

Last night was really dope!
I had the honor of performing in a show hosted by none other than Teresa Songbird. Grammy-nominated poet and the voice behind the viral 2019 performance of “You So Black” at the Trumpet Awards. I remember seeing that piece for the first time and thinking, Wow. This is what truth telling through poetry looks like. From that moment, I followed her journey and last night, I got to share space with her.

She introduced me on stage as “Red Lotus the Poet,” but after my performance, she took the mic and said
“Poet does you no justice. You are powerful, you are more than a poet ”
And just like that, I left the mic feeling even more affirmed.

Grateful for every word, every connection, every reminder that I’m walking in purpose.
