I often get asked why we do not use BMI in our scans; we use BWI. First, BMI was developed in the 1800s, and many professionals now believe it needs an update. People are taller on average now, and the BMI scale doesn't take into account muscle weight or mass. Here is a rundown of how our scale uses BWI.
What does BWI mean? Bio-Wellness Index (BWI) score is a calculation based on the integrity of lean body mass versus total fat mass in order to provide a more purposeful number out of 10 as an overall measure of progress in the promotion of healthy lean body mass.
