I created this shirt myself because I know it to be true. 👉 Yet I still struggle with the first part myself.
I am a fan of discipline.
It has delivered great highs in my life when I've employed it.
✔ A basketball championship
✔ A free car from Mary Kay Cosmetics
✔ Awards in the corporate arena
✔ A powerful podcast that has almost 100 episodes
Yet, sometimes daily, I struggle to be disciplined to do the activities I know will get me closer to my goals.
I've wracked my brain, listened to YouTube videos, and read books for the one thing that will help me improve my consistency in this area. One solution keeps appearing.
Be accountable.
✔ Be accountable to the goal. Make sure it has a deadline for completion.
✔ Be accountable to myself. Set rewards for myself for when I do what I committed to.
✔ Be accountable to someone else. (The most integral one) We are less likely to let someone else down than ourselves.
Research shows we are 80% more likely to achieve a goal when we tell someone else our goal AND give them permission to hold us accountable to it.
With the end of the year just about 90 days away, I'm looking to level up the consistency of my discipline and finish my 2024 goals.
