Cutest thing I have seen in a few days!
The chicken ran away and the obnoxious blue jay stood its ground!

Anyone know what kind of bird this may be?
One of the dogs in the kennel found it in the play yard, but I can’t find a nest.

Sometimes you have to make the decision to be a week early rather then a day to late.
Today was the day that Dexter let us know it was time to let him go.
As suspected, he had Cancer!
This past month I have prayed and begged for him to get better.
And for several days he felt better, he gained some weight and he started eating again. (high dosages of prednisone)
But he actually felt like s**t! He was not able to go walk and guard the property, he wasn’t able to greet any new animals or people who stopped by, like he has done ona daily basis for almost 10 years.
He would try every day to leave the kennels as he had done for years, but would only make it maybe 25 yards or so, do his business and would turn around and come back to the gate and ask to return to his kennel.( due to no energy.).
There he would wait on his special food that consisted of canned chicken breast , canned and dry dog food, he would eat as much as he could then he would go back into his dog house and sleep until he wanted to try it again.
Dexter was a very special boy that never harmed a thing. He had a very rough start in life, being sent to a shelter, some what rescued, but then left in a hoarding type situation where he and over 100 other dogs were saved, adopted to wonderful families and given the best life’s possible! (Thanks to Pam Schairbaum and some awesome women in Washington state).
Dexter was that one dog that had some trust issues and wasn’t really a very adoptable dog.
However, Dexter was the perfect rescue Greeter. He managed to be the first one to meet every new dog that came into the rescue.
He seemed to give them the low down on the kennels as they arrived.
Dexter will be deeply missed, but there will be no more suffering!
