Much of the textile recycling talk focuses on synthetics like polyesters or natural fibers. But what about garments that are more complex such as flame resistant technical textiles? Dave Kasper with Quebec-based General Recycled explained his company’s process for recycling aramid garments at their end of their lifecycle using a closed-loop process during the Synthetic Yarn and Fabric Association’s (SYFA’s) 2023 fall conference in Charlotte.

The second speaker at the Synthetic Yarn and Fabric Association (SYFA) is Parkdale’s Cheryl Smyre. She explained CiCLO technology for enhancing biodegradation in synthetic fibers in her presentation “Biodegradable Technology to Reduce the Impacts of Synthetic Microfiber Pollution.”

Laura Murphy, Wood MacKenzie, kicked off the Fall 2023 Synthetic Yarn and Fabric Association (SYFA) conference with her “Fiber and Yarn Update.”
