Project management is founded on the assumption that the world is rational and predictable; this type of planning is not useful in an environment that is complex, uncertain, and changing rapidly. An Adaptive approach to development projects is a dynamic process, with a process that has interactions between creating plans, implementing, monitoring, and adapting to new opportunities (some of which result from changes in the environment), and a feedback loop that captures what is learned and uses it to inform and improve the whole project.
