Liberation Medicine in Today’s Global Reality!

Join us on the 2026 4th of July weekend in Atlanta, Georgia - in person or remotely.

As was the case in 1776, the Proclamation of Independence is limited only to Life, Liberty and Happiness for some individuals in our society. Many are not included.

The DGH General Assembly will give a voice to those who still don’t have one – or to those whose voices are not heard. Many suffer the consequences of US policies beyond our borders whether they have legal documentation to be in the US or not.

We stand in solidarity with Immigrants who are detained in Georgia and in other places all across the US… Temporary Protective Status Holders who have made their lives in this country and are being detained and deported... Fired workers from the CDC who played a vital role in promotion and the safeguard of local and international health… Students who have spoken up against genocide in Gaza... Graduates from the Cuban Medical School, ELAM, who were able to get top notch training before returning to their countries of origin or other countries in crisis to provide care… Our DGH partners and others on the ground in El Salvador who create community-based solutions in the midst of scarce resources and who organize to resist their own government’s policies, that have received the full support of the current US administration in violating basic human rights of its citizens…

In solidarity with all the above-mentioned oppressed peoples, on the afternoon of July 4th, attendees of the DGH General Assembly will join the National Mobilization Against Genocide at Malcolm X West End Park, organized by the Spirit of Mandela.
