My first 2 inspirations for the Purple Swing Project were a friend's swings at the Goat Farm and a lonely swing that sat on this exact bilboard at this intersection throughout my college years. I always used to stop by on my runs and visit it, even as it deteriorated beyond its useful days. It always was at the back of my mind. Tonight I paid tribute to it and reintroduced a swing to Atlanta with "do! Or do not. There is no try" (yoda). You're welcome Atlanta, watch out for it as you have the others :)

A poem sent to us by a friend today:
Build a Swing by Joan Szymko

You carry
All the ingredients
To turn your life into a nightmare—
Don't mix them!
You have all the genius
to build a swing in your backyard
for God.
That sounds
Like a hell of a lot more fun.
Let's start laughing,
drawing blueprints,
Gathering our talented friends.
I will help you
With my divine
lyre and drum.
Hafiz
Will sing a thousand words
You can take into your hands,
Like golden saws,
Silver hammers,
Polished teakwood,
Strong silk rope.
You carry all the ingredients
To turn existence into joy,
Mix them,
mix
Them!
