This wine room was designed to hold around 850 bottles, using a mix of individual racks to both store and showcase the collection. Every element has a purpose, including a custom-built air vent designed to blend into the space while keeping the environment properly controlled.
And then there’s the part most people don’t think about. Wine needs to stay in contact with the cork to preserve it, which means bottles have to be rotated over time. It’s a small detail, but one that matters.
When needed, Ben, the owner, will stop by and rotate the bottles himself.
“One thing that I love about my job is I’m able to design this… build it… and also come in and help,” Ben shared. “We were able to bring all of his wine here… I was able to stack it and organize it…”
This level of care doesn't stop once the project is finished. We show up and stay involved with the people we build for; stepping in to handle details our clients don't have time for, and making sure the spaces we've built continue to function the way they were intended.
“Unflipping” is a term used to describe restoring a space back to the character and design it was originally built with, rather than covering it up with whatever trend came later.
That’s the direction we want to take with this office renovation.
The office was originally built in 1956, and while there are parts of the space that need to be updated, we also want to hold onto the details and design choices that give the building its character.
There’s value in respecting the original build and making decisions that work with the architecture instead of against it.
A lot of the inspiration behind this mindset comes from the work being shared by .flipping.
For the bathroom in our new office, we want to lean into a mid-century modern direction that feels authentic to the character of the building.
We spent the morning narrowing down the combinations for the floor and wall tiles, talking through materials, layout, and how everything would work together once installed.
Having the right people guide those decisions was very important to us. Thank you for helping us find the perfect tile selections for our office renovation.
More updates coming soon.
