❄️ Cold Weather Pool Protection – North Georgia Customers ❄️
With freezing temperatures and winter weather in the forecast over the next several days, we want to share a few important tips to help protect your pool and equipment from freeze damage.
🔄 Freeze Protection & Circulation
Most pools have a freeze protection feature that automatically turns equipment on when temperatures drop to freezing. This keeps water moving and helps prevent frozen pipes.
👉 Please keep an eye on your system to make sure it’s circulating properly.
👉 If it’s not running, manually turn on all pool pumps at the equipment pad.
🔥 Do You Need to Run Your Pool Heater?
No — running your heater during freezing weather is not necessary to protect plumbing and can greatly increase your gas bill. As long as water is circulating, your pool is protected.
⚡ Power Outages & Generators
• Portable or stand-alone generators usually cannot handle the power needs of pool equipment.
• Whole-home generators may power pool systems if properly sized and wired — but not all are connected by default.
✔️ Check with your generator installer or electrician to confirm.
🛠 Steps to Protect Your Pool
✔️ Keep your system set to AUTO so freeze protection can activate
✔️ During a power outage, cover pumps, filters, and exposed plumbing with blankets or tarps to block wind and retain heat
⚠️ Do not cover the heater if power is restored and you plan to run it
✔️ For extended outages, keeping equipment covered can significantly reduce freeze risk
📧 If you experience issues while our office is closed, email us at [email protected] and we’ll do our best to assist as quickly as possible.
Thank you for taking steps to protect your pool — and stay warm and safe out there! ❄️

We hope you’re enjoying an amazing summer pool season with your family! Just a quick heads-up: Pool Tech will be closed on Thursday, August 21st and Friday, August 22nd for our annual company trip. 🏖️
This means our office staff, service/repair techs, and maintenance crews will be out of town during those two days. We’re working hard to complete as many scheduled tasks as possible beforehand.
➡️ If you’re on a routine maintenance schedule for those dates and your service is missed, you will not be charged.
💬 Need your service earlier in the week? Let us know ASAP and we’ll do our best to fit you in!
📧 For any questions or concerns while we’re away, feel free to email us at [email protected] — we’ll respond as soon as we can.
Thank you for being a valued part of the Pool Tech family — enjoy the rest of your summer! 💦☀️
