Happy EARTH 🌎 DAY from Freedom Park!

🎨 Self Portrait III

122 x 129 x 229 inches
Stainless Steel

Three wide paths lead to the stainless steel globe sculpture which sits upon a circular pad large enough to expose the intricate shadows it cast throughout the day. Viewing benches with spaces for strollers and wheelchair access surround the sculpture. Lighting bollards line the walkway, and in-ground lighting surrounds the sculpture.

The 10-foot-tall sculpture features letters from nine different languages, a reflection of Atlanta’s rich, multicultural history. Plensa’s work does not contain a specific message, but instead uses language as a metaphor. In celebrating the similarities and shared humanity of the world’s seemingly divergent cultures, the artist seeks to connect with his viewers on an intuitive level.

Organized by the Renew Atlanta Infrastructure Bond’s Landmark Public Art initiative, Jaume Plensa’s Self Portrait III is located 📍 at the intersection of North Highland Avenue NE and John Lewis Freedom Parkway NE off the Freedom Park Trail.

🎨 Check out the newly installed sculpture by in Freedom Park - REBIRTH

📍Located at the head of the connector path.

🌟 More details from :

“Rebirth, a striking vertical sculpture by internationally recognized Nigerian artist Jonathon Imafidor, has been newly installed at Freedom Park and will be on display for the next year. The work powerfully embodies resilience, transformation, and renewal. Rising upward from fragments that evoke the discarded remnants of urban life, the figure of a man emerges from society’s detritus—symbolizing the human capacity to rebuild, endure, and reclaim dignity in the face of adversity.

The sculpture carries an added layer of meaning through its own history of survival. Both the artist and Rebirth endured the devastating fire at the South River Art Studios, making the work not only a representation of rebirth but a living testament to it. Its towering presence reflects the perseverance of artists and creative communities, standing as a symbol of renewal, strength, and the enduring power of art to rise from loss.”
