Having grown up in the same area, I found Danny's Tavern very enjoyable. I recognized many of the characters that I also experienced at Eddie's Tavern, few doors down on Bowdoin St. I am sure that Danny's was actually Eddie's. I am a few years older than Dr. Tom, so many of the characters I experienced were the same, although in those days groups of the same age hung out together, and three years made a big difference. The cat and the drunk who bit its tail I actually witnessed at Ann's Lunch, midway on Bowdoin St. across from the Hammy Spa. Tom probably heard about it an wove it into his story as happening at Danny's. Those times are long gone. It was a wonderful era and place for young folks to develop and mature. Thanks Tom for keeping it alive in our hearts.
