I care so much about the black church and mental health! Reasons: These areas have played a major role in my life!

I was physically and emotionally abused as a child, and the church disregarded me

~If you get her to shut up, maybe her father could be a man! (True statement)

I was emotionally abused in my marriage but once again disregarded by the church

~I told people what I did to you, and they admitted to me I was wrong (but no one believed me when I told them)

So you may ask, why do you keep doing this work? I had to ask myself that question as well, and I realized that we all have lived under a trauma-induced theological understanding of God at some point!

If it is all possible that my story and the collective story of others can mix with the power of “the blood” and show a path to overcoming, then that just suits the call on my life!
