Crosswalk Atl

Yesterday I went to Atlanta early. I was going to walk down to the park and invite someone to Peachtree Center for lunch. As I pulled into the city at 2:24 I noticed a lot of police cars heading swiftly into the center of the city. At 2 pm an active shooter shot 4 people in Peachtree Center. 24 minutes before I was headed there.
I don't walk in fear but I do walk with the full armor on.
I still walked to the park and told a coworker that if I didn't make it back alive make sure everyone from the street was at my funeral and tell them about Jesus.
We are never guaranteed the next hour so, I pray you make the most of your day for Christ.

A couple weeks ago I had a 6th grade homeless girl (yep, 6th grade) and her mom come through our dinner line. She asked me where she could get some school supplies. I asked her for a list and Crosswalk purchased her what she needed to get her school year started.
Through that encounter a thought came to my mind "I should adopt a teacher and her class this school year". How fun would it be to love on a teacher and her classroom?
I kind of left that thought to the side.
Fast forward a week. I met this beauty, pictured below. I didn't know she was a teacher. I didn't know she was a single mom. I didn't know she didn't have anything for her classroom, but God knew.
So I'm asking my community and friends to partner with me this year and love on this amazing teacher.
We've set up an Amazon account. But let's also shower her monthly with cards of encouragement and maybe a small gift card for fast food or coffee.
So I introduce you to Miss Turner. She is a K-2nd grade special education teacher in one of the public schools in Atlanta.
God is going to show up and use you to show her love!

Some weeks are very tough and we wonder if we even make a difference in people's lives.
This week ended with a lot of joy and relief.
2 Thursdays ago we had to call an ambulance for Roy (the man who had terminal cancer). After that no one heard from him. People on the street couldn't find him. I called the jails, Grady and even the morgue. We drove around the city, under bridges and in the parks. But he could not be found.
I received a phone call yesterday from another hospital. Roy had been taken there and put on the ventilator due to complications. And since he couldn't communicate they didn't know who to contact. Roy was taken off the vent yesterday and he gave them my name and told them to call Grady hospital for my number.
Story 2:
2 very important people, who are part of my testimony went to the hospital at different times this past year and they never came back to the street. Yesterday Carol and I found them and went to visit them. What joy it brought to all of us as we hugged and laughed.
